MK DON'S FOOTBALL PROGRAMME

MK Dons SET are very proud of helping children and young people to develop their sporting talents in environments which are safe and enjoyable. For the new season the SET will be launching football skill centres for children aged 4 to 9 year olds. This will be a flag ship initiative for the community department where the coaches will deliver an inclusive syllabus to help increase participation, physical literacy, technique and skill. Children will have the opportunity to progress through the ‘player pathway’ naturally depending on their ability and maturity.

The ‘player pathway’ has been reintroduced this season to demonstrate to players and parents that player development is high on the clubs agenda. The range of age appropriate courses the SET have developed will engage young players (boys & girls) through Saturday soccer, holiday courses, skills centres, player development centres and advanced centres (invite only)

For children and young people who like a variety, the SET will operate multi sports centres. Participants will be able to develop skills and play in a range of sports such as football, tag rugby, kwik cricket and hand ball.

For more information on all activities the SET deliver please down load the new community brochure from www.mkdonsset.com

SPORTS & ACTIVITIES

Hey ho! - Cheerleaders – Let’s Go!

Year 6 took part in cheerleading activities last half term in their P.E. session – a first for Newton Longville. Sharon Missing delivered 6 sessions through the Schools Sports Partnership, finishing with a demonstration to the whole school in assembly. It was great fun – and very energetic! She also ran a lunchtime club for Years 4-6 which was very well attended.

BISI Badminton Tournament

Congratulations to the children from year 4 who competed in the BISI Badminton Tournament on Thursday 14th October at Cottesloe School. The team came first and now progress the next round.

Golf Festival

Message from David Armor – PGA Golf Professional – Abbey Hill Golf Centre

I am writing to you to say thank you for your schools attendance at the MK Golf Festival last Thursday. The event was a huge success and saw 10 primary schools, 57 children turning up to take part. Over the 1 hour and 30 minute period children took part in 12 tri-golf games around the astro turf.

We thought all the children did fantastically well and played the competition with enthusiasm and in the right spirit. They are a credit to you and your school. Please pass on these comments to them, the parents and your Headteacher.
