PSHE Intent

At Newton Longville Church of England Primary School we value PSHE as one way to support children’s development as human beings, to enable them to understand and respect who they are, to empower them with a voice and to equip them for life and learning.

To ensure progression and a spiral curriculum, we use Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE, as our chosen teaching and learning programme and tailor it to our children’s needs.

We use the Jigsaw approach to PSHE. This is a teaching and learning programme which includes the statutory RSHE and has a strong focus on emotional and mental health and well being.

We, like parents, want children to be safe, healthy and happy.

Jigsaw is followed throughout school from FS to Year 6. The teaching and learning integrate Personal, Social, Health Education, emotional literacy, social skills, mindfulness and spiritual development.

Our School Values, of Compassion, Respect, Friendship, Aspiration and Thankfulness are intrinsically used within the Jigsaw programme.
